| Frequently Asked Questions.
Q. How often do you update your list?
A. Major updates are scheduled
around the 2nd and 15th working day of every month. Throughout the month
we also make several smaller updates.
Q. What area is covered by your
list?
A. Our service covers Vancouver's
West End area between Robson Street and English Bay and Burrard
Street and Stanley Park.
Q. Is the apartment information
you provide 100% accurate?
A. Because our service is
primarily based on information posted on vacancy signs displayed in front of apartment buildings ,
some of the data may not be exact and certain details may be omitted.
For example an apartment may have a great view or new renovations
not mentioned in our description. Also some apartments may have
been rented and others may become available between our rounds.
We do our best to provide complete and accurate information by making
frequent rounds; however,
if you are interested in a particular apartment we strongly recommend
that you contact the building manager yourself using the phone number
provided, and confirm the information.
Q. Does your Vancouver West End
Vacancy Hot List include privately owned condominiums for rent?
A. No. In our Vancouver West
End Hot list you will find only apartments owned by apartment rental
companies. For private condominium listings (which constitute approximately
3% of all rental units in the West End) go to apartmentguide.ca.
It is free for viewers.
Q. Shouldn't this service be paid
for by the apartment owners?
A. The rental market situation
in the West End of Vancouver is very specific. With the vacancy
rate below 1% apartment owners are not pressured to advertise, even
for free. Most often, displaying a vacancy sign in front of their
building is their only way of advertising.
Q. Why should I pay when every other
site is free?
A. The other sites are sponsored
by individual apartment owners or management companies and, as you've
probably noticed, they contain only a few ads for very expensive
or hard to rent apartments. Our unique list is based on all of the
vacancy signs currently displayed in front of apartment building
and includes all apartments for rent in the Vancouver West End area,
not just a select few.
Q. Isn't your list too expensive?
A. This depends how much
you value your time. There is quite a bit of work involved in
the preparation of our list. Our route is over 25 km long and
requires good knowledge of the Vancouver West End's complicated
street system to cover all apartment buildings. Compiling and
updating our database is also time consuming.
It would take the average apartment hunter several days to obtain
all of this information themselves. Much time would be wasted
checking apartments which are too expensive or just don't have
what you need. By providing you with our complete list we enable
you to concentrate your search on the few apartments which meet
your criteria. This significantly lowers the amount of apartments
you will have to visit in person. We do the leg work for you for
less than it would cost you for gas and lunch if you were doing
it yourself.
